Renowned Nigerian music video director ThankGod Omori Jesam, popularly known as TG Omori, recently shared details about his challenging journey in the filmmaking industry.
During a candid conversation with fans on X (formerly Twitter), Omori revealed that despite being a sought-after director for years, he only began making actual profits from music videos in 2023.
When a fan asked how he calculates production costs while ensuring fair pricing, Omori responded:
"I only started making profits in 2023. Before then, I was often losing money from shoots. The budget was never enough—in fact, I was in serious production debt for five years. I had to live with it, paying off debts while taking on more work to stay afloat."
He further explained that he eventually cleared his debts through earnings generated by his personal brand and reputation, rather than from directing alone.
"It’s a tough life for creatives,"
Omori added, humorously urging supporters to
"hug a creative beside you today."
His revelation highlights the financial challenges many artists and filmmakers face before achieving stability in Nigeria’s competitive entertainment industry.
