Kano Governor Vows to Crush Sponsors of Youth Thuggery and Phone Snatching

Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has pledged to take severe action against individuals allegedly financing youth involvement in thuggery and phone snatching across the state. The governor declared that his administration will not tolerate the continuation of such criminal activities.

Governor Yusuf made these remarks on Wednesday evening while addressing journalists and supporters at Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport upon his return from the Hajj pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia. He expressed deep concern over how young people are being manipulated into criminal behavior, noting that while some may have been misled, others are deliberately orchestrating the crisis from behind the scenes.

"We have no other state better than Kano," Governor Yusuf stated. "This is a direct address to our youth: we acknowledge that some of you were misled into these acts, but there are people sponsoring you to commit these disgraceful crimes. We will take scientific measures against these sponsors."

Though he did not name specific individuals, the governor issued a stern warning that backers of such crimes would be uncovered and face consequences. He also revealed plans by the state government to roll out youth-focused initiatives centered on rehabilitation, skills training, and job creation to discourage involvement in criminal activities.

"Our government is committed to introducing programs that will support youth development and steer them away from violence and phone theft," Governor Yusuf emphasized.

Additionally, he called on parents, traditional leaders, and community members to collaborate with the government in mentoring and guiding young people, stressing that combating crime requires a united effort.
