North Carolina Governor Officially Recognizes June 14 as Igbo Day




North Carolina Governor Josh Stein has proclaimed June 14, 2025, as "Igbo Day" in honor of the Igbo community’s significant contributions to the state’s cultural, economic, and social development. The declaration acknowledges the Igbo people’s influence across key sectors, including education, medicine, law, technology, and the arts, as well as their philanthropic efforts.

The Igbo Day Festival Organisation, established in 2022, was also recognized for its role in celebrating and educating the public about Igbo heritage through cultural festivals. Governor Stein emphasized the importance of the observance, stating, “Now, therefore, I, Josh Stein, Governor of the State of North Carolina, do hereby proclaim June 14, 2025, as ‘Igbo Day’ in North Carolina and commend its observance to all citizens.”

The proclamation serves as a tribute to the Igbo community’s enduring impact and encourages statewide participation in the celebration.
