Fulham returned to the Premier League with four games to go on Tuesday 19th April 2022, when Aleksandar Mitrovic scored two goals in Craven Cottage's 3-0 win over Preston. This is their fifth consecutive divisional change as the Cottagers were relegated in their first season after being promoted again in 2018 and 2020.

Unlike the playoffs two years ago, Marco Silva's men are by far the best team in the league this season. The main reason for this fantastic result is the fact that the Serbian have a staggering 40 goals in 40 league games this season, after doubling in the first half against Preston. Fabio Carvalho was also got his name on the score sheet in the 34th minute, With Mitrovic having the first and the last say of goals to seal up the victory and qualification. Amazingly, they are also nine points ahead of Bournemouth and the Cherry are five games ahead.
